Pharmaceutically-run Marketing Websites

Posted by steph

The sites EndKnow and EndoFacts are run by TAP Pharmaceuticals, which had, in 2001, been embroiled in “criminal charges and civil liabilities in connection with its fraudulent drug pricing and marketing conduct with regard to Lupron, a drug sold by TAP primarily for treatment of advanced prostate cancer in men.” – DoJ.gov. Lupron is also used to treat reproductive issues in women.

Further, “TAP Pharmaceutical Products taps into hot drug industry trends. The joint venture between Abbott Laboratories and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company develops and sells drugs in the US and Canada. The company’s products target cancer, gastroenterology, gynecology, and urology. TAP’s Lupron Depot was developed to treat advanced prostate cancer, but can also treat endometriosis in women and central precocious puberty in children. The company also markets Prevacid, which is used to treat acid reflux disease and ulcers, and is working on a second-generation formula of the proton pump inhibitor.” – hoovers.com

The sites EndoZone.org and its forum on obgyn.net are owned and operated by partners Schering and MediSpecialty. Schering is a pharmaceutical company who merged with Bayer in 2006. Their main pharmaceutical drug is birth control pills.
